Offbeat Airbnbs for every Torontonian

Spend a Day in the woods, Sterling

Ever heard the sounds a forest makes and how it shifts from morning to night, from one season to the next? If you want to experience it, there is no better place than The Love Nature Shack near Sterling, Ontario. The outhouse is steps away from the cabin and the host is gracious enough to provide ample water for you to use. Loads of firewood are available for the fantastic firepit, that I insist you use! There is nothing more special than sitting around a fire in the deep dark night, in the middle of a forest, listening to a pack of coyotes howling. If you want to learn more about this place, head over to the Cabin in the woods article.

Waterfront heaven, Birch Bend Resort

A short drive to Upper Chemong beach, you will find one of the few properties left that is right on the waterfront. Since these cottages are grandfathered in, they are still a stone’s throw distance from the water. The Upper Chemong Lake is a beauty that will mesmerize you. The property has kayaks and boats that you can rent at no extra cost. There are small firepits in front of your cabins and the common area if you wish to light a fire. The cottages themselves are well stocked with everything you might need. There are 9 cottages available to rent. You can book them through Airbnb or straight on their website.

Slice of serenity, Blackstock

Need to get away from all the Lights and sounds of the city. This Airbnb is perfect if you are searching for some serenity close to Toronto. A short hour’s drive from the city, it is built in a large area where you will have your own little space. Several kilometres of walking trails wind through 100 acres on the rolling hills of the Oak Ridges moraine. If you so choose, you can go the whole weekend without having to see another soul. Just build a fire and sit but the firepit and enjoy your time with some drinks and some music. I recommend taking a stroll at night on the property, it will be a magical experience. We booked the Lodge, but there is a treehouse and a yurt for rent on the same property that you can look into as well!
