Bohemian

The Bohemian style is very free-flowing, and eclectic, with very few restrictions. If you are someone who enjoys bright pops of colours and wants to display your favourite memorabilia from your travels, then this might just be the style you are most comfortable with. I will share the basic guideline here and also share some useful links at the end, where you can find Boho items. If you would like me to curate a list of spectacular yet inexpensive list of Boho furniture, art or textiles, please drop a comment!

Fluid & Flexible

Boho is very flexible to your whims and fancies. You can go about your space as you see fit. Minimalist? Maximalist? Chic? Boho can render itself in all forms. This makes it the perfect style to build on.

Organic

Boho grows with you. You can add different patterns, florals, glasswork or motifs in your space as you evolve and your tastes change. There is room to add your own personal items and not have to worry too much about the state of things. You can merge antique and modern pieces in your space to truly give it a personal touch.

Layering

Layering is key in Boho. Thankfully, there are no restrictions, so go all out! Bring in that Persian rug for your living room. Multiple throws to make your space feel cozy and the best part? They don’t have to match!

Add Texture

Think rattan, jute, wool, beads, shells, macrame etc.

Colour Palette

Boho does best when the base colour is more earthy tones or natural hues. You can bring in as many gem tones as you want using art, fabric, textiles, and accessories.

Ambient Lighting

Don’t switch on that Big Light! Instead, focus on warm ambient lights. So go for the dimmable smart lights, and get some candles to add interest and warmth to your space. Pick light fixtures that do not display the bulb clearly and are more conducive to stippled lights. Opt for the beaded or rattan pendant lights and make sure the light bulbs are frosted.
